On December 20th, 2008, Gaia Community hosted its first-ever Longest Night Ball in Kansas City! This event, held in the bitter cold at Broadway Church, 3931 Washington St. in Westport from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., was a roaring success, and we hope to see you next year as well!

Tickets for the 2008 event were $20 in advance, $25 at the door, with a $5 extra charge on those who choose not to come in costume. Masks, a silent auction, and other bits of delightful frippery were also available to purchase.

Music for the event was graciously provided by Justin Bale of Pop Free Radio. Photographer Russ Matthews was on hand to take posed photos for a small fee. The ball also featured a passionate seasonal mystery play at midnight, courtesy of Breath of Gold Productions.

Light refreshments were provided, along with non-alcoholic beverages. Guests were welcome to bring alcohol if they so choose, and to drink responsibly. Due to the lateness of the hour and the nature of some of the entertainments, we required that all guests at the ball be at least 18 years of age.

Check this site or longestnight.org for information about what we'll be doing in 2009!
